2019 Riverbend Farm Crop Mobs
Our local farmers are the heart of our community. Their hard work is a labor of love that brings us our food, food that connects us all and sustains our collective work to change the world for the better. We wanted to find a way to share this message in a hands-on way and in 2008 we partnered with Farmer Greg Reynolds in the creation of our community Crop Mobs, founded both to lend some helping hands to his fields and to ignite the "Local Food = Community" connection. Today, as we face the many challenges in sustaining our food shed such as climate change, corporate control, land access equity and transparency, this message of connection is even more relevant. Crop Mobs provide us an opportunity to cultivate community resilience and the intention of growing a healthier tomorrow for the next generation; they are truly life affirming. Please join us this season and lend your helping hands!
2019 Crop Mob Dates
*the last weekend in August you'll find us at the Minnesota Farmers Union Coffee Shop at the MN State Fair!
Crop Mobs are designed both to give a hands-on view of where our food comes from and to complete that day’s task on the farm. Family friendly, informative and fun, kids are welcome and encouraged to help in the fields with appropriate adult supervision. Bring sunscreen & hat, rain gear if it's wet, a water bottle, and shoes that can get DIRTY. Farmer Greg will supply the gloves and tools, the know-how, and the farm tour and Birchwood will supply the lunch. Yes there will be vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
Plan to meet us at Riverbend Farm in Delano, just 45 minutes west of the city at 9am or you can carpool with us from the cafe. We leave at 8:15am on the dot! If you have any questions about the event, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
